Basic Technique Level 2


Students must have completed at least one full six week session of Beginner Level 1 class before taking Basic Technique. Please keep in mind that most students with little or no movement background need to stay in the Beginner class for 2 or 3 sessions (an average of six months) in order to develop a strong foundaiton of muscle memory. Practice is always encouraged and recommended.

We will explore basic foot and arm patterns as well as an Introduction to Basic Dance Theory. This class is focused on building your belly dance vocabulary while studying compound movement such as layering, moving patterns, and simple choreography combinations.

Before enrolling in the Basics class you should know the names of steps and understand the rhythms taught in Intro, as well as be able to isolate movement in different parts of the body. Ask your teacher if you're not sure whether or not it is time for you to move up.
